About Me
My name is Alyssa (Aly) Colasanti, and I am a science illustrator and naturalist based in Northern California. I aim to bridge the gap between science and art through informative visuals. I believe science communication is crucial for the future of environmental conservation.
I’m currently available for commissions.
I’m currently based in Northern California, but grew up in Upstate NY, where my passion for nature and art originated!
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in environmental biology at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry (SUNY ESF) in 2023, I spent time in the field as an invasive species management technician for Great Swamp Conservancy Inc. in Canastota, NY.
I moved to California shortly after my seasonal position ended, where I gained experience as a field ecology instructor through the Lawrence Hall of Science at UC Berkeley and as an outdoor educator through YMCA Camp Campbell Outdoor Science School.
I was a featured artist for the Santa Cruz Natural History Museum on the 2025 Art of Nature exhibition for my piece on the Pacific Banana Slug.
I have provided illustrations for many non-profits, such as the Santa Cruz Mountains Bioregional Council, Great Swamp Conservancy Inc., and YMCA Camp Campbell. Since then, I have recently been admitted to the CSUMB Science Illustration program, where I will refine my skills and continue my professional experience in scientific illustration.
